“Pretend to be making something until you actually make something.”
Austin Kleon, Steal Like an Artist.
This is a quote from the most interesting authors I’ve come across. It encompasses humility and self belief. I’ll take the liberty of saying I echo this sentiment a one hundred percent. All my life, I think I’ve been pretending to make something. All I’ve achieved till date is practice. Do I want to be known as a good artist? Yes.
Will that happen? I don’t know. So I decided to showcase my work anyway. You see I know that life is fleeting. I also know that I only have an opportunity in the current moment, so I will make the most of it. I, as an artist, hold dearly to my imagination gifted by the universe; fuelled by my beautiful family; and supported relentlessly by 3 other super special people. But what use is it, if I don’t share what I imagine? So, instead of hiding my work in the fear of rejection I’m putting it out there in the hope of appreciation…
